Design system launch
I co-launched a new design system site during Pearson’s digital transformation from book publishing to digital education software.
The problem
A newly formed UX design team had created a framework site, but the site didn’t have any guidelines for how to use the downloadable Sketch components. The lack of guidelines led to inconsistent customer experiences across Pearson’s digital products, which was a problem for the company’s brand and for students who were using the products.
What I did
I led the content effort, which included auditing the existing UX frameworks site, conducting a UX research survey for the UX team, creating a sitemap, and writing all the content, including guidelines for UX writing.
The outcome
The new design system was adopted within 6 months, and it’s still in use 7 years later.
Customers began seeing more consistent products, making it easier for them to trust Pearson as they made the transition from books to digital.
